1. Lug nuts should be tightened by hand to the carmaker's specification using a torque wrench. Do not use an air wrench particularly if you have Alloy rims. This can also cause the rims to warp. When lug nuts are tightened too much or unevenly, they put pressure on the rotor and can cause warping.
2. Do not replace your rotors with used rotors that have machined and do not have your rotors machined. After rotors are machined, they are thinner and more likely to warp.
3. Use softer pads to lessen heat build up in the rotors. They are cheaper and easier to replace.
4. If you have constant trouble with warping of front brakes, get a set of cross-drilled that have had the cross-drilled holes done by machine before they are heat-treated.
5. Make sure the brake-proportioning valve is functioning properly. This valve distributes the hydraulic pressure so that the front brakes do most of the braking.
6. Flush and change your brake fluid annually to prevent degradation of the brake fluid and to remove metal particles that may collect in the fluid and affect proper braking.
7. Insure that the front brake calipers are working properly and not sticking.

Notes: Rotors should only be machined if absolutely necessary. New rotors do NOT need to be machined. They only need to be cleaned with a solvent to clean off the protective oily film.

Keep a plastic dustpan in the trunk it makes a great ice scraper.
It removes ice in a jiffy and it will not scratch the windshield.

To repair a crack in the windshield until you replace it use clear fingernail polish.
