Lay the oven rack on an old towel in the bathtub. Cover them with warm water and some ammonia, let it sit a while, the job will be much easier.

There are many charitable organizations with drop-off locations and a pick-up can be arranged by calling them. You can request a receipt for your donations which are tax deductible!
