Over the counter medicines and blood pressure #6584
Many cold medications contain pseudoephedrine, which clamps down on blood vessels, raising blood pressure says Sheila Sahni, M.D., a cardiovascular disease expert at UCLA Medical Center. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as Aleve, Advil and Motrin, can also raise blood pressure by 3 to 6 point. That’s enough to contribute to cardiovascular risk if you take them on a regular basis.

If you can't reach the dentist, reach for the clove in the spice cabinet and make a thick paste with 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves and a few drops of water. Salt may prevent weight gain #6553
University of Iowa researchers who put mice on a high-fat diet designed to promote weight gain, then varied the amount of salt the animals were given. The mice that ate the least salt gained 230 percent more weight than the mice that ate the most. The Study author Justin Grove, Ph.D., says sodium influences hormones that help regulate digestion, which then cuts the amount of calories absorbed by the GI tract.
