Pet Safety #5242

Keep Fido away from azalea or rhododendron, which can lead to vomiting, drooling, diarrhea, weakness, depression of the central nervous system, and, in some cases, death if dogs munch on the plants. Also, keep cats away from lilies, just by eating a very small amount can result in kidney damage and death.

Fido has fly bites? #6340

In high summer, flies have a field day biting dogs’ ears, and that can lead to itchy bumps that easily become infected. To protect Fido, add 5 drops of lavender essential oil to 1 cup of water to a jar; shake well. Dip a cotton ball into the mixture and apply to the tips of Fido’s ears before going outside. (Reapply hourly while outside) Flies dislike the oil’s scent so they will stay away.
Note: Lavender oil is safe for dogs, but can be toxic for cats.
