Dog Life – oops on your carpet #6473

Your pup had an accident on your carpet, an even though you cleaned it, he keeps going in the same spot, the reason is the stained area is much bigger than you’d expect since urine seeps and spreads into the padding under the carpet. Your pup’s sensitive nose can pick up even a trace of the scent, so he keeps going there. The next time it happens, sop up any liquid with paper towels, then sprinkle baking soda on the soiled area and five inches all around it, and then mix equal amounts of vinegar and water; pour over the baking soda to eat away at the stain and absorb the odor. Let sit for five minutes, blot with a towel and vacuum. When the carpet dries, any trace of odor will be gone.

Dog Life – stopping love bites #6474

Ouch!! Toto has a bad habit of bringing out his teeth and biting you when playing. Instead of scolding him trainers suggest pretending he really hurt you. Cry out as if you are in pain; he will pick up on your “suffering,” and he will be so surprised that he will stop biting immediately and become nurturing and protective of you.

Lemon scrub for cutting board #6508

To neutralize odors and deep clean wood boards, sprinkle with coarse salt, and rub with a thick slice of lemon, let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Salt is abrasive and absorbent, so it loosens debris and draws liquid from the wood, while the lemon deodorizes.

Drain Cleaner #6399

When the sink or shower is backed up, combine 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 cups of seltzer; pour the mixture down the drain. Wait 1 minute, and then run the hottest water for 15 seconds. The abrasive salt and carbonation will break down grease, hair and grime so the hot water can rinse away the blockage.
