Leftovers - Keep or toss? #4902

Prepared foods that have been kept at room temperature for more than two hours should be thrown out. If the room temperature was above 90 degrees, discard extra food after one hour.
Leftovers should be cooled quickly. Place into shallow containers, label the food with the date it was prepared and put it into the refrigerator or freezer.
If you bring food home from a restaurant, write the date of purchase on your takeout container and refrigerate promptly for no more than three to five days.
